Graduation Requirements/Diplomas

The following information pertains to graduation requirements for the two different diploma programs that Irmo High School offers. For more information on what does and does not apply for each category below, click on the requirement area. It should also be noted that 6 or more units of a specified occupation science may be used in place of one science credit. In addition, graduation requires two other components: (1) Students must exhibit basic computer literacy, i.e. pass Computer Technology 1, and (2) Students must pass all parts of the South Carolina Exit Exam, which will be administered to all tenth graders. Students not passing all sections of the Exit Exam in tenth grade, or those not enrolled in a South Carolina school during their tenth grade year will have later opportunities to take the exam their junior and/or senior year.

Irmo High School, as a constituent of South Carolina Lexington-Richland School District Five, also offers an Extended Studies Diploma. This diploma program requires the completion of extra courses, as well as ten hours of documented community service per year. Community service verification forms may be attained from the Guidance Office. In order to successful complete this program, one must begin the process their freshman year. Requirements for the District Five Extended Studies Diploma are as follows:
